Here it is, post number one of my new segment 'Now and Later'! The name is slightly reminiscent of that waxy candy we all found in our Halloween stash when we were kids, but I'm hoping the content of this new series will be a little more on the quality side with a little less cavity inducing taffieness. The idea is to take an item of clothing and show that it has multiple different ways to wear it and to encourage people to get outside of their norm and try something new. I can't tell you how many outfits I wear the exact same way all the time! It's great to have a reliable go-to that you feel comfortable in but sometimes I think it forces us to forgo being creative, original, or simply carefree when it becomes all we're wearing. My goal with these posts is to encourage you to look inside your wardrobe, experiment and have fun but not necessarily go out and purchase something. As I get older the more I want to simplify and pare down, to not chase after every trend but be intentional about where and how I'm spending my hard earned money. So I am hoping to encourage you all to do the same! Don't worry about how others are going to perceive your outfit choice for the day, if you are comfortable and confident, who cares? Be true to who you are and what you enjoy, then remember to have some fun!

*promise the next one won't have this long winded intro!

Now & Later: A Case for an Off the Shoulder Dress

Think Farmer's Market, out for a stroll on a sunny day casual.

Pop the top of the dress on to your shoulders for a more casual look!

Outfit number one: super casual and easy, this is my dream outfit for a walk downtown in the summertime. Comfy sandals, bright colors, and breezy clothes are ideal for those hot summer days. I popped the shoulder line up to give this dress a little bit more of a modest look, plus it makes it a tad more manageable to wear for a long time!

White flats go with pretty much everything!

Outfit number two: playing on the athleisure wear trend a little bit, this incorporates a few of my favorite things, floral prints and pointy shoes. I love the idea of this pairing, so relaxed but still put together. One of those outfits I might look back on and say "what was I thinking?" but for now I'm just rolling with it. I'd most likely wear this on a casual date night or hanging out with my gal pals.

Summer wedding look, easy to dance in!

Outfit number three: summer wedding go-to. I have a feeling I'm going to be defaulting to this exact look quite a bit over the next few months. One of the things I love about off the shoulder dresses is how romantic they can seem, perfect for a classier event in the hotter months. Pair it with nude heels and a fun hairpiece!

I know some of the current trends can be intimidating, I mean let's get real, I'm 30 and don't want cutouts in every other piece of clothing! But I do love off the shoulder dresses and they've been in and out of style forever! I have a feeling that they will be similar to when jumpsuits hit the scene ten-ish years ago, no one thought they were going to last but here they are, and they just keep getting better and better (trust me, this girl loves a good jumpsuit)! I hope I was able to make a case for adding this piece to your closet or for giving the one you have a good run for it's money. If you like my dress in particular you can find it here. Bonus points that it's only $38 and free shipping/returns!
